Manchester based Hydes Brewery has completed the purchase of Bamford Hall and the Bluebell Centre in Gee Cross Hyde, Cheshire, marking the start of a £3 million project to create a new pub and restaurant complex. Bamford Hall was built in the mid 1870’s, and has largely remained a private home since aside from a brief period when owed and run as an ICI conference centre. Since 2001 is has been the private home of the Stanyer Family, who restored it to its former glory, and converted some outbuildings to open the Blue Bell Centre in 2004. The Bluebell Centre is currently a thriving restaurant, and coffee and gift shop. The Hall, which sits in over 3 acres of land, is to be sympathetically converted into a high quality pub and restaurant by Hydes over the next 5 months, with plans for it to open as a managed house in September 2008. The Bluebell Centre will continue to operate in its current form; virtually all of the staff having been retained in the business by the new owners. Hydes Managing Director Chris Hopkins comments: “The acquisition of Bamford Hall is a fantastic opportunity for Hydes. It will make a stunning pub restaurant complex which will also offer great potential for events and functions in a really attractive setting. We are aiming to offer the very best in food, drink and traditional hospitality at this fine site which is easily accessible to many parts of South Manchester and Stockport. We will be commencing the 16 weeks development work early in May. The Bluebell Centre will be fully open throughout this period” Warning: Attempt to read property "image_intro" on null in /var/www/vhosts/thcamra.org.uk/joomla/new/plugins/system/t4/themes/base/html/com_content/article/default.php on line 35
