Trafford & Hulme CAMRA is pleased to announce that for the 2020 Pub Of The Year is for the third year running The Old Packet House on the corner of Navigation Road & Manchester Road in Altrincham. One of the branch's oldest pubs dating back to the 1870s, The landlords Roger & Clare continues to deliver a shining example of all that is good about traditional pubs. A roaring fire in winter, great value pub grub and of course great beer saw it top the member's vote out of over 140 pubs selling real ale in the branch area.
Alex Price who took over in 2018 and who has maintained the high standards set by the previous owners at The Beer House, Chorlton has been rewarded with runner up spot for the second year. This aptly named pub has two regular beers and up to five changing beers on hand pumps. These are complimented with an extensive range of craft keg, bottled and canned beers, some local and some from around the world.
The Font was also named Cider Pub Of The Year 2020 for the sixth time in seven years - it's range of between 6 and 10 traditional and fruit flavoured ciders no doubt being the clincher for cider drinkers with PI chorlton as runner up.
And having now been in place for over a year the "new" stewards at Flixton Conservative Club have proved that they know how to deliver quality ale as they were victorius in the Club Of The Year competition for the second year, making this the eighth consecutive win for this very special club.
