Pub Of The Year
The Pub Of The Year award is presented annually to a pub or bar which in the opinion of the membership “ticks all the boxes”. It should ideally offer a range of quality real ales, including speciality styles like dark beers; offer good real cider and perry; and offer at least one LocAle. A branch pub of the year should be a community pub that provides events and services for the local community. The pub should have a strong identity and personality that will often reflect the tastes of the licensee. The pub should exude a sense of welcome and the experience of your visit should leave you wanting to return.
The pub or bar should be the one the branch feels is the very best overall in our area as the Pub Of The Year shall be put forward by the branch for entry into the Greater Manchester Regional round of the CAMRA National Pub Of The Year award where it will be judged on quality of cask ale (and cider); atmosphere; décor; customer service; welcome; value for money; customer mix.

The Trafford & Hulme CAMRA Pub Of The Year 2016 is Pi (Altrincham). The award was presented to a packed pub of regulars and CAMRA members on 23rd June. The pub took the opportunity to launch their new range of bar snacks and also provided samples of new varieties of Pie Minster pies.

The Trafford & Hulme branch Pub Of The Year for 2016 is Pi (Altrincham).
Presentation Thursday 23rd June from 8pm. Will also be presenting runners up awards to Blackjack Beers' Jack In The Box and Marble Beer's Marble Beer House with beers from both breweries invading Pi for the evening.
Situated on Shaw’s Road opposite Altrincham Market Hall, it’s not a bar which shouts loudly about itself but has quietly spent the last three years building a well-earned reputation for serving good beer in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. There are no pretentions about this bar - no DJ nights, no TV sports and no desire to be a gastropub or do “street food”. Quite simply while it may not be a traditional pub, it is very much a proper pub – all about enjoying beer in good company.
House ale Tatton Blonde is joined by two guest ales most commonly from RedWillow, Saltaire & First Chop while the fonts serve only quality local and imported beers and lagers – there are no mainstream brands. Where bottle menus may be a common sight at craft beer bars these days, the Pi Beer Bible has been a fixture since the first Pi opened in Chorlton back in 2007.
The simple but effective menu offers a choice of four PieMinster pies usually including two vegetarian options, served with your choice of creamy mash, minty peas and gravy. Service is quick and food is served until 11pm daily.

Deansgate Bar regains top CAMRA award after five year wait
Trafford & Hulme CAMRA has revealed the winners in their annual Pub & Club awards.
The top accolade of Pub Of The Year has been awarded to The Knott on Deansgate, Manchester. Nestled in the railway arches opposite Deansgate railway station, this is the third time the Castlefield bar has taken the top title having won it in both 2009 & 2010 - the latter being on the way to being named Greater Manchester Pub Of the Year in 2010.
The Club Of The Year has been named as Flixton Conservative Club while cider & perry lovers will want to head to Cider Pub Of The Year, The Font on Manchester Road, Chorlton.
The Knott has been a haven for beer fans in the city for over 10 years, leading the way for what has become known as the Craft Beer Revolution. With a selection of 7 cask ales, a wide range of European lagers, craft beers from the UK & abroad and an enviable selection of bottles from around the world, there is no better place in the city for the modern beer lover. The bar supports a wide range of local breweries with long established favourites like Marble Beers and Rochdale\'s Pictish Brewery sharing bar space with some of the most exciting new local breweries like Shindigger and Brewsmith. Add a warm welcome, efficient service and freshly cooked restaurant quality food at pub prices, the bar offers the complete package.
Pipped to the post to end up as runner up was Altrincham\'s Costello\'s Bar - the brewery tap of Dunham Massey Brewing Co - themselves a former winner having taken the title in 2011 & 2012. Chorlton\'s The Beech Inn was third.
John O\'Donnell, spokesman for Trafford & Hulme CAMRA said \"We are very pleased that The Knott has regained the Pub Of The Year title - they have long been one of the very best pubs across the area and have been in the running for the award year on year. Ahead of their time when they opened, they have kept moving as the city\'s beer market has evolved, offering craft beers long before others caught on but all on the solid foundations of well kept real ale.\"
Alongside the Pub Of The Year announcement, the branch has also confirmed their Club Of The Year award has gone to Flixton Conservative Club for the third year in a row. The private members club on Flixton Road has cemented a considerable reputation for choice and quality of its real ales under the stewardship of Nigel & Sharon Porter, a feature which has helped the club grow its membership and customer base at a time when other clubs are struggling.
Finally, the Cider Pub Of The Year is The Font on Manchester Road Chorlton-cum-Hardy, recognised for offering four traditional ciders & perries on draught at all times alongside the widest range of bottled ciders that you will find anywhere in the city. The award marks the third time in a row that the Font chain has taken this title, with their Manchester bar winning it in 2013 before conceding to their younger Chorlton based sister bar for 2014.

The Trafford & Hulme Branch Pub Of The Year 2014 is The City Arms, Kennedy Street, Manchester. While hype rages about the "Craft Beer Revolution" and the press raves about specialist beer bars, the City Arms is testament to the enduring popularity of a well run traditional pub. The pub is nestled away on Kennedy Street, a quiet narrow back street which runs parallel to Princess Street, one of Manchester's busiest streets. Despite being so close to Albert Square and the heart of the city, once inside you could forget you are in the city and imagine yourself in a lively suburban local, the kind of which there are sadly fewer and fewer of these days.

Trafford & Hulme CAMRA's Pub of The Year for 2012 is Costello's Bar in Altrincham.
Although Costello's only opened in December 2010, with friendly staff and good service from the outset, it has quickly become a firm favourite with Altrincham locals and CAMRA members near and far alike. It was voted branch Pub Of The Season for Summer 2011 and was also voted Champion Mild Pub of Manchester by participants in the 2011 Mild Magic Trail.

Marble Beer House (Manchester Road, Chorlton) was presented with their richly deserved Pub Of The Year award on Wednesday 8th June.
Around 30 local CAMRA members joined regulars to see the award presented by branch Chair Beverley Gobbett. Beverley told the audience that Marble Beer House has been highly rated by the branch ever since first opening 13 years ago. It has been featured in every single edition of The Good Beer Guide that it has been eligible for and regularly rates in the top 5 local pubs by members beer quality scores entered into CAMRA's National Beer Scoring System.
